About Me

I am Md. Arif Hossain, currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, a position I have held since February 2023. Before joining DUET, I gained valuable experience as a Scientific Officer and Research Fellow at the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR). I completed my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Dhaka. My research interests include renewable energy, environmental chemistry, composite materials, and food science. Over the years, I have published several research articles in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to an Elsevier book chapter, and presented my work at various national and international conferences. I have been involved in multiple funded research projects supported by the Ministry of Science & Technology and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. In these projects, I have worked as both Project Director and Associate Project Director, focusing on areas such as biodiesel production, nanocellulose composites, edible oil quality assessment, and adsorption materials. At DUET, I teach undergraduate courses in Physical, Inorganic, Organic, and Industrial Chemistry. I also supervise M.Sc. thesis students and contribute to academic development through OBE-based curriculum design, course profile preparation, and CO-PO mapping. Outside my academic life, I enjoy travelling, reading, meeting new people, engaging in social activities.
